're just happy to be here. good morning, i'm laura garcia-cannon. there is a lot going on in the city by the bay. take a look at this week, fleet week and america's cup by the water, hardly strictly bluegrass, a slew of neighborhood fairs and the 49ers and giants? traffic and weather of course be playing a huge role all weekend long and we have team coverage for you this morning. mike is watching the roads, what you can expect this weekend, but let's start with christina loren and the all-important weekend forecast. good morning. >> hey, good morning to you. what a difference a couple days make in the weather department. we started out with record-breaking heat. 107 degrees on tuesday in gilroy. today we are going to struggle to break into the 70s. so this morning it's crisp out there, a much cooler start in santa rosa at 50 degrees. take you down south. headed towards the 70s, lots of cloud cover and showers on the way for the big weekend. we'll help you plan around them. first let's check your drive and see how busy it is out there. hi, mike. >> you know, the best drive all weekend

adult was also injured at st. andrew's catholic church in daly city. kimberly tere joins us from daly city with more for us. >> reporter: diane, you can see the markers left on the ground by investigators who were here for hours in this parking lot. the accident happened just before 9:00 this morning, just as mass was about to begin, and catechism for the kids was getting under way. so witnesses say the parking lot was very busy. according to daly city police, a woman in her 50s driving a minivan hit a mother, her child, and another woman. all three victims were taken to san francisco general hospital where the 6-year-old girl died. the two women, one 45, the other 46 years old are, still hospitalized tonight. their conditions unknown. parishioners say the accident is very upsetting, and at this afternoon's mass, the church prayed for the families involved. >> it should not have happened. the parking lot is small, like i said. and i think this guy must have come speeding. >> it's been there already. we don't know what happened. feel like someone is crying for help. >> it's a red car.

francisco. a city supervisor representing the castro district proposing the measure yesterday. this would ban nudity in plazas, urban parks, sidewalks, streets and on public transportation. street fairs, festivals and parades would be exempt. if they are approved, nudists would be slapped with a $100 fine for their first offense and $500 for a third strike. right now state law does not ban public nudity. it does prohibit lewd public behavior. >>> the gates will be locked at san jose's allen rock park. san jose fire officials say there are still extreme fire conditions because of the hot weather. if -- well, when the weather cools off, the city says it will re open that park. >>> it will be cooling off very soon and maybe a week away, maybe some rain too. >> oh, yeah, we've got some major changes ahead. we're going to get much cooler. we're going to hold on to that pattern basically through next week. temperatures already dropping off today. we want to start with this crystal clear look over the port of oakland. you'll notice we are getting a little bit choppier on the bay at this point. t

are starting to spend. construction is also picking up in san jose. but the city apparently is not prepared. and that's causing delays. nbc bay area's kris sanchez is live in san jose with why one businessman blames the city for losing nearly everything. kris? >> reporter: hi there, janelle. well, if you have ever been through a construction project, then you know that things don't move nearly as fast as you hope that they would. but in san jose for months, things were taking a lot longer than they were supposed to. and that's primarily because the planning department was decimated by the recession. >> great ice cream. very good. >> reporter: this cream i have a fixture in this san jose downtown, at least it was until owner jeff mullen closed in order to move into a new space after ten years in business. >> my expectation of downtime was two to three months, okay. it turned into eight months. >> reporter: mullen says he lost $400,000 in revenue and nearly lost his home and his customer base. and while he was closed, other similar businesses moved in. he places much of the blame on the city

gathered in the city for a little bit of music, some baseball, and activities. we have crews throughout the city. let's begin with monti francis. he is along the waterfront. hello, monti. >> reporter: good afternoon, the blue angels took to the sky just about 15 minutes ago. for many spectators, this is what they came to see. in fact, many of these folks staked out their spots this morning. we started with the parade of ships as vessels from the u.s. navy and u.s. coast guard came under the golden gate bridge and into the bay. that was followed by the air show at 12:30, including some impressive of air ak crow bat icks. spectators were also wowed by a b-2 stealth bomber. the weather cooperated beautifully, viewing was clear as can be and not al at all hindered by the fog as in the case in years past. >> just makes you really proud to be an american and san franciscan and to be out here, just -- i just got shivers. just beautiful. great day. >> the planes are awesome. it's a great time, a lot of people out here. it's really fun. good times. >> reporter: and fleet week is a joint traditio

condition and does not have his medication. >>> dozens of angry protesters took over the city council meeting in oakland last night demanding to know more about a deadly police shooting five months ago. the family and about 75 supporters of 18-year-old allen blueford packed the chamber. the family was finally given a copy of the official police report. something they say they have been asking for since the shooting. blueford was shot and killed back in may after police say he tried to run away from them. at first police said he had been killed in an exchange of gunfire that injured the officer. they later said that while a gun believed to be blueford's was recovered, it had not been fired and the officer's wound was self-inflicted. the district attorney and oakland police are still investigating this shooting. >>> that protest comes as a federal report comes to light, accusing oakland police of being too quick to pull that trigger. a monitor tracking police reforms in the city says officers sometimes shoot at suspects even though they may not face immediate danger. the monitor says of

. we spoke to a resident who said they wondered what is going on. four gun deaths within the city limits since 9:00 last night. all young men in their late teens or early 20s. two killed on 72nd avenue where we are right now. a residential street. a couple of blocks away from international boulevard. these men were in a green minivan on the street. a van that one of the passengers bought within the past day. at 6:00 as the sun was coming up this morning, someone walked up to the van and there was a confrontation. this person fired multiple shots at them killing them both here on the scene. police tell us they don't have a motive. they are still looking for that suspect. a neighbor of one of the men said the two regularly sat out in a vehicle just to talk. weren't loud. were respectful. from her point of view, seemed to stay out of trouble. >> this is the first time we ever had any kind of disturbances like this. sad. i guess nobody is exempt. it happens over there. it happened behind us. now it is happening here. nobody is exempt in oakland. it could be in any neighborhood. any st

at this hour investigating homicide number 35 and 36 in their city. police responding to a fight in the downtown area and when they arrived there, they found a victim lying unconscious on the sidewalk. the man was discovered about 8:30 last night near south 2nd and east san fernando streets just off of the san jose state campus. investigators right now are not saying exactly how they died but do believe he was involved in a fight with at least one suspect. so far there have been no arrests made. and police also investigating a deadly gang-related shooting in east san jose. this one happened about 12:30 this morning near the corner of dobern and south jackson avenue just down the street from capital park. somebody shot and killed a man while he was standing outside a home with a group of friends. the armed suspect remains at large. as we said, this one marks san jose's 36th homicide of the year. >>> san jose police are also investigating an officer involved shooting involving a san mateo county sheriff's deputy. it happened near a caltrain station last night. it began with an alte

. and now that chilly air, it's moved as far south as say about salt lake city, and it's moved through colorado, but that's really about it. now that front's going to kind of just sit here. it's not going to make much more progress to the south. that's why i don't think the temperatures are going to cool off much. so, the cool air, northern nevada, up into idaho and montana. the onshore flow's cooled off a little bit, too, over the last couple days in california, and that's going to continue. there are a lot of coastal clouds, you'll be burning off the fog all morning long and then sunshine this afternoon. if you notice the chilly air, it's in the 40s finally through the northern rockies, into 30s at the high elevations, but none of that cool air made it to vegas, at 78 this morning. it's a little cool around portland and medford, maybe a light jacket this morning. you'll probably carry it home this afternoon because we're spending another dry day, an amazingly dry stretch of weather here and it continues. 84 in medford, 74 portland, and after burning off the clouds in central californ
